Here is where you get to pick the ‘theme’ you want your garden to have. We will always be adding more and more themes to choose from. The highlighted themes are available for selection. Others are in progress. Some individuals may want to combine two different themes such as ‘Southwestern’ and ‘Chaparral California Native’, in which case each palette will have to be purchased individually. If you are unable to decide which theme is right for you, please contact us through the Member Support button link and we will aid you in your decision.

Southwestern

This design style has many drought tolerant plants. This theme is characterized by bold statements with the use of big leafed succulents and some cacti. Flowering perennials and grasses are used to soften the garden down creating major textural variation. Succulents, grasses, and woody perennials are the make-up of this garden.

Chaparral California Native

A garden native to the Chaparral plant community and the coastal ranges of California. Planting with natives is a great way to reduce water usage and lower maintenance. These plants will feel right at home in the environment they were meant to be in. Main plants: Pines, Oaks, and Manzanitas characterize this garden.

Hollywood Zen

A truely unique garden. This style is very eclectic in plant selection. It borrows plants from various styles and incorporates them into one very distinctive garden displaying Southern California’s diversity in design. This garden is very lush and has a hint of modern flavor. Papyrus, Bamboo, flowering shrubs, and ornamental grasses are favorites in this garden.

Santa Barbara

The Spanish-Mexican influences in the Santa Barbara theme are very prevelant. It has a similar look to the Southwestern theme in that it is very drought tolerant. Santa Barbara is a little more lush and delves into a little more sub-tropical type plants. Palms, Bougainvilleas, and Lavenders

Woodland

Woodland gardens are extremely lush and gain much of their interest from varying shades of green foliage. Hydrangeas, Birch trees, ferns, Redwoods, and Iris are among the Wodland garden palette.

English Cottage

This is a very ‘soft’ feeling garden with lacey shrubs with showy flowers and brilliantly colored accent foliage. This garden may have a bit more of a feminine feel than most other themes. Plants ithat characterize this garden thme are Lavenders, Camellias, Lilacs, Delphiniums, and Gardenias.

Tropical
A favorite in beach communities, this theme includes lush big-leafed foliage and shrubs with large showy flowers. This theme is not available to all counties/cities due to it’s climate restrictions, but given the right conditions, this theme can be very immaculate.
